Nintendo Targeting Leakers of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Discord
In February 2023, someone posted a picture on Reddit under the name JustJulienOffic and on Discord as Julien#2743. He claimed that a friend had sent him an “interesting look” at the art book of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The art book will be included with the Collector Edition and according to the user, the art book ranges in content from “over 200 pages”. The images appear to be legitimate and Nintendo is trying to find out who “Julien#2743” is so they can take legal action.
TorrentFreak then reported that on April 4, 2023, Nintendo had filed a DMCA subpoena with a district court in California, United States.
If granted, the request would order Discord “to disclose the identity, including the name, address, phone number, and email address of the user Julien#2743, responsible for uploading the infringing content that appears” on the Discord channel in question.
Although JustJulienOffic’s original post was removed by Reddit moderators, the deleted images quickly circulated on social media and other forums.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be released on Nintendo Switch until May 12, 2023.
