Arkane Studios: Redfall Looks Like Far Cry, Not Left 4 Dead
Speaking with GamesRadar+, Ricardo Bare revealed that Redfall won’t be like Left 4 Dead, but it’s actually more like Far Cry.
It’s perfectly understandable if someone comes to that conclusion. There are four playable characters, you can play together cooperatively, and you’ll be fighting the undead. But, in terms of how you play and experience Redfall, it’s not like those games at all. Redfall is more like getting into Far Cry.Ricardo Bare, Creative Director at Arkane Studios
If there’s a negative to be drawn from the Far Cry comparison, it’s scale. Ubisoft’s open-world games have gotten so big that there’s a lot of skepticism among players about the scale. But there is a key difference in the design of Redfall provided by Bare, and that is the absence of vehicles.
In terms of freedom, there’s what you’d expect from any other open-world, but Redfall is a game on foot – the scale and pace slow down a little in that regard. We want you to creep through cornfields at night in the mist, hearing the whispers of vampires in the darkness. Maybe you’ll spot a farmhouse in the distance and sneak up to it, only to find that it’s full of cultists and the few trapped survivors you can save. That’s the kind of vibe Redfall has.Ricardo Bare, Creative Director at Arkane Studios
