Starfield Delayed to September 2023
Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios have recently announced that Starfield will launch for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC (Steam) on September 6, 2023. This is a delay from the previously planned release schedule of the “first half of 2023”.
A “Starfield Direct” broadcast is planned for June 11, 2023, where Bethesda Game Studios will share the latest information about Starfield. Microsoft will also host the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 on June 11, 2023.
The following is a message from Todd Howard about the delay:
Hi everyone, from me and everyone here at Bethesda, we’re excited to finally be able to tell you when Starfield will release this year.
We’ve poured ourselves into this game and even I was surprised how much we were able to pour in – a lot. We play this game all the time – just ask lead producer Tim Lamb. For old-school fans, you might remember him from the Oblivion Making video where he sat on the same couch and did something similar.
However, this June we’ll be taking you into the studio and giving you a further deep dive into the game at ‘Starfield Direct’. There’s a lot we still have to show you. This game has many of the hallmarks you’ve come to expect from us, but it’s also a very unique experience.
Again, thank you for all your enthusiasm for the game, your support, your comments, we read them all. Look, we know you’ve been waiting a long time to play something new from us. Believe it or not, we’re the same way-we missed it and we can’t wait for you guys to play it. So thank you, and see you soon.Todd Howard, Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios
